Fix invalid items

If you move or rename an application or AppleScript you have added to a group or a file or folder you have added to a menu, you may need to fix its path. Similarly, you may need to fix paths after having imported settings from a backup.

To fix an invalid item:

Open the Application Wizard pane in System Preferences.

  • To fix an application or AppleScript you have added to a group, click Groups. Select the application or AppleScript in the list and choose Fix Path from the Action pop-up menu (looks like a gear). Reselect the application or AppleScript and click Fix.

  • To fix a custom application, click Applications. Select the application in the list and choose Fix Path from the Action pop-up menu. Reselect the application and click Fix.

  • To fix a folder you have added to the Open menu, click Menus. Click the Customize Menus button and click Open. Select the folder in the list and choose Fix Path from the Action pop-up menu. Reselect the folder and click Fix.

  • To fix an application from have excluded from the Quit menu, click Menus. Click the Customize Menus button and click Quit. Select the application in the excluded applications list and choose Fix Path from the Action pop-up menu. Reselect the application and click Fix.

  • To fix an application from have excluded from the Switch menu, click Menus. Click the Customize Menus button and click Switch. Select the application in the excluded applications list and choose Fix Path from the Action pop-up menu. Reselect the application and click Fix.

  • To fix a file or folder you have added to the Special menu, click Menus. Click the Customize Menus button and click Special. Select the item in the list and choose Fix Path from the Action pop-up menu. Reselect the file or folder and click Fix.

You can view the path of an invalid item by choosing Show Info Tags from the corresponding Action pop-up menu and moving the pointer over the item’s name in the list.
